find some of that temporary peace in receiving
love and joy from others; but it won’t last. Only
God’s peace lasts forever, and it is a gift to each
one of us.
To be able to accept that gift and keep it,
you must keep your mind on Jesus and on
the strength, love, power and joy He brought.
If you choose to keep trouble on your mind
instead, you will have fear; and the Lord said,
Let not your heart be troubled, neither let
it be afraid (John 14:27). All the divinity He
brought is yours to use; so always hear Him
saying, Be not afraid, only believe (Mark
5:36).
If you don’t have divine peace today, then
either you don’t have spiritual sight or you’re
not using it. When you look at people, things
and circumstances only through your physical
sight, you will be defeated.
Stephen had spiritual sight; and as he was
being stoned to death, he looked up and said,
Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the
Son of man standing on the right hand of
God (Acts 7:56). Stephen could say that during
his darkest hour because he was full of the
Holy Ghost. The Spirit within also enabled
him to die as Jesus did saying, Lord, lay not
this sin to their charge. And when he had
said this, he fell asleep (Acts 7:60).
Spiritual sight enabled Stephen to go to
Heaven in a glorious way. If you look at things
through physical eyes when your way gets
rough, you won’t see the sunshine of God’s
peace and love. You won’t recognize the Lord
as your way-maker or see His hand reaching
out to help you. You won’t see Him as all the
power, love, peace and goodness you need.
Having true, perfect peace seems impossible,
but the Bible says you can have it if you trust
in the Lord and focus on Him like you should.
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose
mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth
in thee (Isaiah 26:3). The storms of life
may be raging all around you, but they can’t
get inside when you have Heaven’s perfect
peace.
Jesus is the one who brought perfect peace
to Earth. Before He came, God prophesied
about Him through Zechariah saying He
would give light to them that sit in darkness
and in the shadow of death, to guide our
feet into the way of peace (Luke 1:79).
Jesus was the Word made flesh, and He
brought truth to the world. Paul taught that
truth and lived that truth, and he knew the
truth could bring peace to all people. He said,
Those things, which ye have both learned,
and received, and heard, and seen in me,
do: and the God of peace shall be with you
(Philippians 4:9).
Some of you battle so much in your mind
that it becomes one, big battlefield when the
Lord promised you peace. And the peace of
God, which passeth all understanding, shall
keep your hearts and minds through Christ
Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Will you claim that
promise?
Peace from On High
Jesus said, Peace I leave with you, my peace
I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give
I unto you (John 14:27). Self and the world
can only give temporary peace, and you may
